Antique French toy drum, circa 1890, with original old black paint and ropes.

Toys weren’t always part of childhood, during the Victorian era or in France La Belle Époque (French: belepok) era (1870-1914) parents started to see playtime as important to their children’s growth new and interesting toys like this toy drum became popular.

CONDITION

Condition commensurate with age, original rope warn and frame a bit loose, centre of both sides in good condition. Please take a close look at the photos and if you want more let me know. Of course, all items can be viewed by appointment at Canard Viewing Room, Pauanui Coromandel.

PROVENANCE

This charming old toy drum was found in a French chateau the enfant (children) having long flown the coop. Left lonely and looking for a new home it’s found its way through Europe and across the seas to NZ.
