Provenance
Bought in Malvern (known for great vintage and its natural spring water which is the Queen’s favourite), from an antique dealer at a fair. I spotted it from across the room but by the time I had made my way to view it there was an elderly man holding it as if his life depended on it, he was trying to haggle the priced down, but the dealer was not having it. She kept on saying it’s very well priced and you won’t find another one like it. The gentleman agreed it was a unique piece (I didn’t think that was a very good negotiating tactic 😊) after what seemed like a very long time, he decided he would go and get a cup of tea and think about it. I pounced I wasn’t about to lose out, it made the dealer laugh. She said ‘I saw you hovering anxiously waiting’, without me asking she gave me a meagre discount, I thanked her and moved on grinning like a Cheshire cat who has just had the cream.
